When the sun goes down in Destin, the real monsters come out to play. This 8-hour beach shark charter puts you right in the thick of the action during prime feeding time, targeting some of the biggest predators in the Gulf. From May through August, when the water warms up and the bait schools are thick, we've got greater hammerheads and tiger sharks cruising just offshore. This isn't your typical fishing trip – we're hunting sharks over 9 feet long using heavy tackle, custom drones, and years of studying where these apex predators patrol. You'll be shore-based the entire time, feeling every head shake and run from the sand.
This is serious shark fishing, and we treat it that way. We'll set you up with everything you need – chairs, gear, and all the know-how to land a monster. Our team deploys baits up to 800 yards offshore using drones and kayaks, putting 10+ pound chunks exactly where the big sharks are feeding. The night bite is when these predators get aggressive, and we've got the patterns dialed in from studying their migrations year after year. You'll watch lines scream off massive reels while we coach you through the fight. Don't worry about the setup – we handle all the technical stuff so you can focus on the battle ahead. The beach gives you solid footing and room to move, which you'll need when a 12-foot tiger decides to make a run for deep water.
We're running custom big game reels loaded with heavy line because these sharks don't mess around. Our drone system lets us place baits exactly where we want them, way beyond what you could cast from shore. The kayak deployment gets even bigger baits out to the 800-yard mark where the monsters cruise. We're talking about 10+ pound chunks of fresh bait – the kind of meal that gets a hammerhead's attention. The rigs are built tough with circle hooks and heavy leaders because these fish have sandpaper skin and razor-sharp teeth. Everything's sized up for the target species, and we've got backup gear ready because sharks have a way of testing your equipment. The beach setup gives us flexibility to move and adjust based on current, wind, and where we're seeing activity.
"This crew made my birthday wish come true—I landed an incredible shark! They knew exactly where to take us, used a drone to drop the bait, and handled everything, even setting up our chairs. The experience was absolutely top-notch, and all I can say is these guys are truly amazing!" - Brian
"What an amazing experience to touch a shark and then hold its mouth open for pictures. Not your average experience. This is a once in a lifetime experience. Caught a 10 foot tiger shark!!! Amazing" - Ken

Shortfin Mako Sharks are the speed demons of the Gulf, hitting 45+ mph when they're fired up. These sleek predators average 6-8 feet but can push 10+ feet during peak season. They're most active from June through August when the water hits 80+ degrees. What makes makos special is their aerial displays – they'll jump clear out of the water multiple times during a fight. Their torpedo-shaped bodies and crescent tails make them built for speed, and guests love the drag-screaming runs these sharks are famous for.
Blacktip Sharks are the workhorses of Destin shark fishing, running 4-6 feet on average with some pushing 8 feet. They're here May through September, feeding aggressively in the shallows where baitfish concentrate. Blacktips get their name from the dark edges on their fins, and they're known for their acrobatic jumps when hooked. They're perfect for getting everyone in the group involved since they're abundant and willing to bite. Don't let their size fool you – a 6-foot blacktip will give you a workout on the right tackle.
Lemon Sharks are the bulldogs of the shark world, with stocky builds and serious attitude. These yellowish-brown predators cruise the flats and nearshore waters from May through August, often in surprisingly shallow water. They range from 6-10 feet in our area, with the big females showing up to feed on stingrays and smaller sharks. Lemons are known for their persistence – they'll circle baits for a while before committing, but once they bite, they dig deep and fight dirty. Their blunt snouts and powerful jaws make them perfect for crushing shellfish and bones.
Bull Sharks are the heavyweight champions, thick and powerful with attitudes to match. These gray ghosts can handle fresh and saltwater, often moving into bays and rivers to hunt. They're here year-round but most active during the warmer months when we run these charters. Bulls average 7-9 feet but the big females can push 11+ feet and 400+ pounds. They're ambush predators that hit baits hard and fight with pure power – no fancy jumps, just bulldogging runs that test your drag and your back. Their wide heads and crushing bite make them one of the most respected sharks in these waters.
Goliath Grouper aren't sharks, but they're just as exciting when they show up on shark baits. These massive fish can hit 400+ pounds and 6+ feet long, living around structure and wrecks in 20-100 feet of water. They're protected so it's catch and release only, but landing one is a bucket-list experience. Goliaths are ambush predators that inhale

Blacktips are solid mid-size sharks that'll give you a real workout on our monster shark trips. They typically run 5-8 feet, but we're targeting the bigger ones that can push 9+ feet and 200+ pounds. These guys love shallow water around 30-100 feet, hanging near structure and muddy areas where baitfish gather. During our May-August season, they're active and aggressive, especially at night. What guests love about blacktips is their aerial show - they'll jump clean out of the water multiple times during the fight. They're also known for their personality, sometimes getting so worked up they'll actually jump right into boats. We use fresh mackerel, herring, and sardines since they're oily and put out serious scent. Local trick: keep multiple baits out because when one blacktip shows up, others usually follow.

Bull sharks are the ultimate coastal predator - thick, aggressive, and built like tanks. These bruisers typically run 8-11 feet in our waters, with the big females pushing 400+ pounds of pure muscle. What makes them unique is their ability to handle both salt and fresh water, so you'll find them from the surf zone out to deeper structure. They prefer warmer months when baitfish are abundant and will hunt in surprisingly shallow water. Guests love targeting bulls because they fight dirty - no fancy jumps, just raw power and determination. They'll use every structure available to try breaking your line. The meat is also excellent eating. We target them with fresh mullet, mackerel, and cut bait soaked in fish oil to create a serious scent trail. Pro tip: when a bull takes your bait, tighten that drag immediately - they'll head straight for the nearest structure to break you off.

Goliath grouper are the giants of our reefs - absolute monsters that can reach 8 feet and 800 pounds. These prehistoric-looking fish hang around artificial reefs, wrecks, and natural structure in 50-200 feet of water. Summer months are best when they're most active and feeding heavily. What guests love is the sheer power - that first run will test every piece of your gear and technique. They're ambush predators with massive mouths, so the take is usually explosive. Remember, these are protected fish so it's strictly catch and release, but the photo opportunities are amazing. We use heavy tackle with 20/0 circle hooks and whole fish like jack crevalle or large chunks of bait. The key trick is positioning - anchor close enough to the structure to draw them out, but far enough to pull them away before they dive back into their hole and break you off on the reef.

Lemon sharks are some of the most recognizable sharks we target, with that distinct yellow-bronze coloring that makes them stand out. These stocky predators typically run 8-10 feet in our area, with some pushing over 11 feet and 400+ pounds. They love shallow, warm water from 20-90 feet, especially around sandy flats and mangrove edges where they hunt stingrays and baitfish. Summer months are prime time when water temps climb and they move closer to shore. What makes lemons special is their intelligence and curious nature - they're actually pretty social sharks that will investigate baits methodically. The fight is steady and powerful rather than flashy, but they've got serious stamina. We target them with fresh stingray, bonnethead sharks, and big chunks of jack. Pro tip: patience pays with lemons - they'll often circle your bait several times before committing, so resist the urge to move it.

The fastest shark in the ocean, makos are built for speed and power. These sleek predators average 10-13 feet but can push over 14 feet, weighing 200-600 pounds. You'll find them cruising surface waters and down to 400 feet, preferring warmer months when baitfish are thick. What makes them special? They're absolute rockets - hitting 30+ mph and launching 20 feet out of the water when hooked. The fight is legendary, but be ready because they're smart and will use every trick to break free, including jumping in your boat. For our night trips, we target them with big tuna and mackerel chunks. Pro tip: keep that drag smooth on the initial run - these fish can snap 50-pound line if you clamp down too hard on their first blistering sprint.
